Christos Goumopoulos is a Professor at the Department of Information and Communications Systems Engineering at University of the Aegean. He is a member of the Coordinating Committee of the postgraduate program, Internet of Things: Intelligent Environments in Next-Generation Networks. He is also a cooperating professor in the Hellenic Open University in the Mobile and Pervasive Computing Systems postgraduate program. He is the author of 4 course books in the field of Pervasive Computing and Internet of Things that are used in the corresponding postgraduate programs.  Since 1992 he has been involved as member or leader of scientific and technology teams in several national and EU-funded R&D projects implemented by the Dynamic Ambient Intelligent Social Systems research team (http://daissy.eap.gr/). Recently he has been involved in the Η2020 UMI-Sci-Ed project focusing on using state-of-the-art technologies like Internet of Things in order to cultivate STEM competences on secondary education. His research interests include pervasive computing system architectures, design and programming of pervasive computing systems, programming models and frameworks, middleware design, IoT platforms, semantic interoperability in IoT, ontological knowledge representation, distributed systems, ambient assisted living systems and precision agriculture. He has more than 100 publications to his credit in international refereed journals, books and conferences (e.g. IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, Springer). He has more than 1500 citations to his work yielding an h-index of 22 He has also organized international workshops, and served as a reviewer on international journal and conferences.
