Irene G. Karybali holds a Diploma degree in computer engineering and informatics, an M.Sc. degree in signal and image processing systems, and a Ph.D. degree in efficient image registration and image watermarking techniques from the University of Patras, Patras, Greece. She was a researcher with the R&D Department, Computer Technology Institute (CTI) "Diophantus", Patras. She has worked as an Adjunct Lecturer with the Universities of Thessaly and Patras, and the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, where she is currently a Laboratory Teaching Staff Member.

Her research interests include information forensics and security, digital image watermarking, efficient schemes for image registration, optimization of digital image processing algorithms for efficient hardware implementation, and hardware security.

She is a member of the IEEE and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
