Dr. George Kormentzas was born in Athens, Greece on 1973. He received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering both from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 1995 and 2000, respectively. He has published extensively in international scientific journals, edited books and conference proceedings. He is a member of pronounced professional societies, an active reviewer for several journals and conferences and EU-Independent Expert (being both Evaluator and Rapporteur) for various EC framework Programmes. Furthermore, George Kormentzas acts within Technical Program and Organizing Committees for numerous conferences and workshops and as a Guest Editor for scientific journals. He is co-founder of the Next Generation Networking Middleware (NGNM) Workshop established in 2004 and taking place in a per-year basis in the context of the IFIP Networking conference. George Kormentzas has participated in a number of national and international research projects, serving in some instances as Project Manager and Technical Manager. After invitation, George Kormentzas is member of the IFIP WG6.6 (Management of Networks and Distributed Systems) of the TC6-Communication Systems. For three years (2010 - 2012), George Kormentzas acted as Vice President of OPEKEPE, the Greek Paying Agency for Community Aids according to the EC Common Agriculture Policy (CAP). The next three years, G. Kormentzas was member of COPA-COGECA praesidium representing the Greek Farmers' cooperatives and for two years (2014 - 2016) he was President of the strategic Board of GAIA EPICHEIREIN SA, an innovative Greek SME established by almost 80 Greek cooperatives, Bank of Pireus and NeuroPublic SA. From 2016 up to 2019, he was member of the board of GAIA EPICHEIREIN SA acting in parallel as COO. From 2020 up to now, he is Strategic Advisor of NEW PASEGES – PanHellenic Institution of Greek Farmers' unions.
